Don't feel bad about 'dissenting' maybe time might change you. I was always scared that they might take your organs before you're actually dead (because you're kept on life support until 'harvesting'). I understand things a bit better now!
My sister is a nurse who has been involved in all sides like yourself, which is why as I mentioned above, I've respected her request not to donate my eyes - she found that particularly distressing.
In the UK they have specially trained transplant co-ordinators to support and advise donor's families. Do you have something similar in the US?

i just stated reading a book called "the lovely bones" by alice sebold.

I've just started a new college semester so my main reading at the moment is 'Penguin History of the Reformation' by owen Chadwick and 'Greek Grammar beyond the basics' by Daniel Wallace.
In my free time, I'm reading Fyodor Dostoyevsky's 'The Brothers Karamazov'

What's the longest you ever kept a pet?

my cat is going on 13 in april.

i guess that inside cats can live up to 17 or 18.. i never had a same pet for that long.

i keep them t'il they die.

I had a Border collie dog, lassie for 15 years - she got knocked over by an ambulance and died from the shock, no broken bones or anything.
Then I had a cat called Annie who also lived for 15 years, I had to have her put to sleep because her blood stopped clotting and she had a brain bleed.
it's still an awful decision to take - even though it's the only reasonable one. (((lisa)))

What Is Gods Name?

if there is a god...don't any of you find it odd that we don't even know his name!

i mean... if he was real why didn't he preserve his name for all of us to know?

i mean think of it, it is really stupid isn't!

Thought i'd share an interesting explanation I read a while ago in a book written by a Rabbi (sorry I can't for the life of me remember what his name was!)
He wrote that YHWH - meaning 'I am who I am' - or 'I might be who I might be', 'I will be who I will be' - or any other variation of the verb to be, is a polite way of saying 'Mind your own business'!
It was one of the most profound things I've ever read about God.
so maybe we don't really know his name after all.
My own other thought would be which is the only name under heaven by which we can be saved? YHWH or Jesus?
